Airport Noise Advisory Panel

To receive and assess information on airport noise problems; to assist in coordination between land use activities and airport activities; to promote greater communication regarding airport noise among the various public bodies, agencies, and commissions; and to make advisory recommendations to the Airport Authority Board of Trustees regarding new and existing programs and approaches to noise abatement.

Arts and Culture Advisory Committee

The objective of the Sparks Arts and Culture Commission is to provide a plan and guidance for all arts and cultural related activities on public property or projects utilizing city resources.\r\nAn important element of the arts program is to differentiate the City of Sparks from other cities and their arts programs. This program should identify and celebrate the uniqueness of Sparks --Blending our historical and industrial sides with our love of family and events. \r\nThis new committee is new and developing a plan for the city. In this phase, their initial task is to develop a team of arts experts and citizens to create a five year plan.

To review appeals of decisions by the Sparks Building Official regarding interpretations of the Building Code.

Charter Committee

The Charter Committee presents recommendations to the Legislature on behalf of the City concerning all necessary amendments to the City Charter. (Section 1.150(2) of the City Charter). The Charter Committee has direct access to the Legislature and is not required to seek approval from the City Council. However, the Charter Committee has directed that its recommendations be presented to the City Council for review. The Legislature prefers to adopt amendments to the City Charter which have been agreed upon by both the Charter Committee and the City Council.

City Council Members generally act as the legislative branch of the city, as well as its policy-making body. The council also looks to the city's goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning.

Sparks Tourism and Marketing Committee

The Committee is comprised of three members. One member of the Committee is appointed by the Nevada Resort Association (NRA). The other two committee members are city council members and have historically been the chairman and vice chairman of the Sparks Redevelopment Agency. The committee's purpose is to designate funds received from the RSCVA (The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitor's Authority) to tourism related projects in the City of Sparks.
