Flood Preparations Update #8, Sparks in Recovery Mode

For Immediate Release\r\nContact: Adam Mayberry, 775.353.7894, amayberry@cityofsparks.us\r\n\r\nSparks, NV – The Truckee River continues to recede in Sparks, but remains above flood stage at this time.\r\n\r\nCity officials will begin an assessment of the structures in those areas that were inundated by the flood tomorrow morning, or as flood waters recede.  Approximately 10 structures in the industrial area will be inspected by Sparks building inspectors.\r\n\r\nFLOOD PREPARNESS HOTLINE:\r\n\r\nSparks Flood Hotline, 775-353-5555, will not be answered by city personnel after 6:00 p.m. today and will be back in operation at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.  The public can dial Nevada 211 for regional flood information.\r\n\r\nSANDBAG RETURN:\r\n\r\nThe public is asked to keep sandbags through the upcoming weather events for the next couple of days, and then return the bags to the location that they were obtained from.\r\n\r\nCURRENT ROAD CONDITIONS\r\n\r\nMcCarran Boulevard between I-80 and Mill Street now open.\r\n\r\nI-80 soutbound off-ramp at Vista is now open.\r\n\r\nGlendale Avenue between McCarran Boulevard and Meredith Way remains closed.\r\n\r\nKleppe Lane between Meredith Way and Greg Street remains closed.\r\n\r\nRIVER PATH AND PARKS ALONG THE RIVER IN SPARKS REMAIN CLOSED:\r\n\r\nThe river path and all parks along the Truckee River, from Fisherman’s Park east to its termination, remain closed.\r\n\r\nThe City is reminding the public to stay away from the Truckee River and appreciates the public’s cooperation because the river remains above flood stage at this time.  River conditions remain dangerous.\r\n\r\nThe City has a flood information page with several resources and maps to include current road closures.\r\n
