Partners in Parks & Recreation

For some, doing good is no more complicated than picking up someone else’s cans and wrappers while hiking our local hills. For others, it’s organizing a crew to build a bike trail or adopting a park. Still others step forward with donations that fill the voids left from budget cuts or provide monetary support to help a child learn to swim, play sports, or simply get a healthy snack. They’re neighbors who give in whatever way they can – with their time, their money or even their experience. And the results are impressive: they gain a tremendous sense of pride and we end up with a community that’s made even better.\r\n\r\nThere are countless ways to get involved and make a difference in Sparks. One way to be a part of Partners in Parks and Recreation is through donations starting from $35 and ranging to $1,000. Another is the donation of time: volunteering for fun runs, Adopt-A-Park, community cleanups, etc. Contributors are recognized in our seasonal activity guide, which is distributed to the community twice annually.\r\n\r\nView Community Giving Brochure\r\n\r\nAdopt-A-Park\r\n\r\nFor more than a decade, Sparks Adopt-A-Park program has assisted in improving parks and landscaped areas through volunteer support. Volunteers help by removing weeds and trash, painting, assisting with playground\r\ncare, and reporting any areas that are in need of repair. Participating organizations receive recognition with a sign placed at the adopted park. Share your time and adopt a park today! Contact Tony at 353-7836 or email tpehle@cityofsparks.us and/or view the application packet here: Download Adopt-A-Park Information Packet\r\n\r\nSponsor a Mutt Mitt Dispenser\r\n\r\nPicking up after pets is vital for maintaining safety and enjoyment of Sparks’ parks – and it ranks high in pet ownership common courtesy. Sponsor a Mutt Mitt station to promote clean parks, good manners, and your business. Free Mutt Mitts make this common courtesy easy to perform. Mutt mitt sponsor business logo and marketing message is featured on signage placed directly on the dispenser. Sponsor names are also included in a Partners in Parks and Recreation online listing and in Sparks’ seasonal activity guides, mailed to 40,000 Sparks households twice a year. The cost is $300/year (breaks down to $25/month to help keep parks clean).
