TourMark Funding Information

The City of Sparks Tourism and Marketing Committee distributes funds to be used for special events. The objective of events is to give the City of Sparks the opportunity to introduce or reinforce our brand and meet our event objectives:\r\n


  • To promote tourism
  • \r\n

  • To encourage economic impact
  • \r\n

  • To stimulate civic pride.
  • \r\n

\r\nApplications for 2017 Funding are due no later than 12/29/2016. The Committee will be meeting in January 2017 to review funding requests for the 2017 special events season.\r\n\r\nTHE APPLICATION This link takes you to the online application. No paper applications will be accepted. You will know that your application was submitted by an email receipt that will be emailed to you after pressing the “submit” button. If you did not receive this, your application was not submitted. You can try again or call 775-353-7856. Please have screen-shots so that we can diagnose the problem. It is advised that you do not wait until the deadline to submit in the case that you experience technical difficulties.\r\n\r\nIn order for the committee to have sufficient time to review the requests no late applications will not be considered.\r\n\r\nThis document has directions for the application and a paper WORKSHEET for planning purposes.\r\n\r\nPOST REPORT This post report is due 60 days after the last day of your event. It is your responsibility to see that it is submitted on time.\r\n\r\nThis document has directions for the post report and a paper WORKSHEET for planning purposes.\r\n\r\nFunding is decided at a Tourism and Marketing Committee meeting. At the funding meetings, each producer will have the opportunity to present your request to the committee and field questions from the committee about your event and your efforts to make it successful. Funding is typically approved and allocated at this meeting. When the meeting has been scheduled, you will be advised of the date, time and location. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Cyndi in the City Manager’s office (775) 353-2311.\r\n\r\nVERY IMPORTANT: This is a grant application for the City of Sparks Tourism & Marketing Committee. This is separate from a special events permit. You will need to have your permit submitted BEFORE you can apply for funding.
